The Thuringian Brewing Barley Tour took place once again this year. For this purpose, we opened our doors at IRUSO GmbH in Buttstädt to around 90 interested people from a wide range of sectors such as grain cultivation, research, agriculture and, of course, breweries.

After a short welcoming by Stephan Bergler, Managing Director IRUSO GmbH, the substantive part began. As part of a variety demonstration, the "Thüringer Landesamt für Landwirtschaft" and the "Thüringer Lehr-, Prüf- und Versuchsgut GmbH" in Buttelstedt showed and discussed different brewing barley varieties in comparison.

Farmer Hermann Hoyer, known for his unconventional way of agriculture, gave insights into his current farming projects.

Last but not least, during the entire tour it was possible to get an impressive picture of the 2022 malting barley year, which is expected to be quite good considering the winter seeds due to the wet spring, which is particularly important against the backdrop of the current supply situation in the raw material sector, but also the rising price development.

During lunch including a final discussion, the impressions of the day were exchanged and deepened in professional discussions.
