From Barley to Beer: Beer Princesses on a Malt Mission
On 12 March, we welcomed the Bavarian beer princesses at IREKS.
We started off with a small snack, our company film and a compact overview of Kulmbach's brewery and beer history as well as the development of IREKS. Afterwards, the focus was on practice: During a tour of the malthouse and malt laboratory, the participants learned what happens in the grain during malting, where our raw materials come from and what really matters when it comes to quality. The production process, which complies with the Bavarian Purity Law for beer, and the variety of different types and species of malt were explained, too. After all, the candidates for the title of Beer Queen should know how their “protégé” is actually made – and why good malt is the basis for a good beer.
Interest was correspondingly high: Lots of questions, exciting insights into the world of malt and definitely a successful malt mission for the beer princesses.
